I decided after my second baby was 4 months old that it was time to do something for me as I had not been happy with my body since having children. I briefly got back into shape between the two babies but was never completely happy with myself.

I would constantly say that I would start on Monday, then once Wednesday/Thursday hit I was back to old bad habits.  I seemed to always have excuses as to why I could not get fit and healthy.

I had many hurdles during the 12 week challenge, one being the constant battle with myself, changing my mindset to believe I could do this and keep the fat off for good.  I also constantly felt guilty for putting me first but my husband was wonderful and helped out so much with the kids so I could do my training. I think he could see the happier person emerging.
 
I think the biggest change in me is not just the physical but the mental change. I now enjoy the training so much I could not even bare thinking about giving it up now. That is why I have decided to do another program to help me achieve my goals of getting to 15% body fat.
 
Marcella’s Success tips:
 
  • Plan! Plan! Plan! I wrote down my meal plan for the week and then went and did my food shopping. I also planned when I was going to do my training and cardio so I would stick to the plan for the week.
  • Be consistent with your program and you will see amazing results, but be mindful it does take 12 weeks, not 6, 8 or 10 weeks.
  • Reward yourself with a free choice meal every 1-2 weeks; it actually helps with shedding the fat!
  • Read as many motivational success stories as possible, go to the member’s area of IBO as you can talk to other like-minded people who are going through the same thing.  When I was feeling a bit unmotivated I would hop online to the IBO website and look at before and after photos and think that will be me soon I just need to keep going.
  • Last but not least, seriously consider having a personal success mentor during your 12 week journey.  I don’t know what I would have done without mine, Sharna was so motivating and always made me feel good about myself at my lowest points.  I have her support again in my next challenge which is great.
 
Marcella’s Favourite recipe - Protein pancakes
 
Mix 5 egg whites, ½ cup oats and 2 tbsp. cottage cheese.  I blend them together.
Spray a non-stick frypan with olive oil spray and cook oat mixture like you would for pancakes. It makes about 4 for a serve. I have this with 2 tsp. diet jam and Sugar free maple syrup…..Yummo!
